INTERACTIVE FICTION STUDIO

Worlds you play by talking to them.

Selador is Harold Bray's interactive-fiction studio, building text adventures where the world is solid and the characters think for themselves. Its first world is iVenture.

One studio · one cave · sixteen years in the making

iVenture

A Zork-style text adventure, sixteen years in the making. The world is scripted and winnable; the characters carry a mind and answer in their own voice.

Worlds that answer

The idea behind Selador: the game engine stays deterministic and fair, and a language model only ever gives the characters a voice, never the keys to the machinery.

A long lineage

A father-and-sons project since 2009, rebuilt across C++, a hand-made DSL, and JavaScript. The technology keeps changing; the cave doesn't.

About Selador

Selador is the interactive-fiction label within Zality Labs, the studio of engineer Harold Bray. It's where the narrative-game work lives, starting with iVenture and the small, winnable cave you can play today.
